Happy is he whose resting-place is in the secret of the Lord, and under the shade of the wings of the Most High.

Free Credit Report

December 25, 2008

Actually, being an authorized user should not affect your raising credit score. Unless you give your personal info and actually apply for the card as a co-applicant, then being an authorized user is not supposed to appear on your credit report. I am not saying that this does not ever happen, but it is not supposed to. In my experience, an authorized user generally has nothing show up on your credit report. The reason behind this is that credit investigation and assessment needs to be initially setup and is often paid by the very first credit card company who decides to take their chance with you.

All good banks and credit card companies offer either a credit disability or credit life policy for a small cost that can easily be built into your monthly statement. With all the horror stories of credit debt going around, it sure won’t hurt to have some sort of protection plan.

If you cannot afford a credit report, see if you qualify or can receive a free credit report. Given the fact that when the credit balances become out of control, the consumer begins to search for their best debt relief option 3freecreditreportsnow.com is accessible for you to fine out the answer to the most complicated questions regarding credit card eligibility.  If you go to www.3freecreditreportsnow.com you can get a 3 in one credit report that gives you your credit reports from all three of the agencies I mentioned before. You can also sign up for Identity Guard which will give you your credit scores and daily monitoring too!

Live by the Spirit

September 7, 2008

“live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature.”

Galatians 5:16

Imagine if Christianity was just a giant book of rules — thousands of things you should do or not do.  Think of how overwhelming this would be!   You would feel as if you had to be perfect to be accepted by God.

The good news is that Christianity is NOT a huge list of rules.  Christianity is the good news that Jesus Christ died for our offenses against God - our sins.  When we try to live the Christian life, we can ask God the Holy Spirit to fill our lives with His love and His power and His grace.

Paul said, almost 2,000 years ago to people in Galatia who were trying to live the Christian life by rules, “Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort?”  The same applies to us today.  We can have the joy of living the Christian life filled with God’s Holy Spirit.

The Landmine of Fear

August 26, 2008

Fear has been a part of our emotional makeup since the fall of man. When Adam and Eve rebelled against the Lord, they hid themselves from Him and were afraid as recorded in Genesis 3:10.

Things haven’t changed much. Anxiety often affects our thinking. It controls our actions. Anxiety can keep us boxed in and unwilling to go into unknown territory.

Let the truth help you defeat fear. God is Almighty. Through the Savior’s perfect life and his sacrifice on the cross, our two greatest enemies have been defeated, Satan and death. Jesus set us free from slavery to sin. The Devil has lost control over our lives. What’s more, we no longer face eternal separation from God. Jesus’ physical death has become the gateway to heaven, where we can live with the Father forever.

God is always with us. God called Abraham to move away from all that was familiar. But God promised to remain nearby. In Matthew 28:20, we’re similarly reassured by Jesus. Through the indwelling Holy Spirit, we as believers have God not only near us but also in us. Nothing can ever separate us from Him. That includes past mistakes, present circumstances, or difficult people.

God is actively involved. God promises His help. He always keeps His word. God knows what is happening in our lives. He can turn hardships into a time of spiritual growth and ultimate blessing.

God Himself is the reason we should not be afraid. Grasp the truth of His power, presence, and involvement. We should use them to disarm the landmine of fear.

Peace I leave with you

August 19, 2008

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

John 14:27 (NIV)

God’s peace. How can you have God’s peace in the midst of a storm? When Jesus was with His disciples in a boat, a great storm came over them. Even in the midst of the storm, Jesus slept peacefully.

If you have a crisis in your life — if you have problems — if you have issues with your family — Jesus is with you. He can give you His peace — peace in your heart — even in the midst of a storm.

Here are three things you can do to experience God’s peace:

  1. Make sure you know that Christ is your Savior — that He is with you “in the boat.”
  2. Release your problem to Him — put it in His hands. You can trust that He will answer your prayers!
  3. Ask His Holy Spirit to fill you with the presence of Jesus each and every day.

A Reason To Smile

August 14, 2008

Five Minutes To Happiness

It can be so easy to get caught up in the rigors of modern life that we tend to forget that happiness need not come with stipulations. Happiness becomes something we must schedule and strive for—a hard-won emotion—and then only when we have no worries to occupy our thoughts. In reality, overwhelming joy is not the exclusive province of those with unlimited time and no troubles to speak of.

Many of the happiest people on earth are also those coping with the most serious challenges. They have learned to make time for those simple yet superb pleasures that can be enjoyed quickly and easily. Cultivating a happy heart takes no more than five minutes. The resultant delight will be neither complex nor complicated, but it will be profound and will serve as a reminder that there is always a reason to smile.

So much that is ecstasy-inducing can be accomplished in five minutes. Alone, we can enjoy an aromatic cup of our favorite tea, take a stroll through the garden we have created, write about the day’s events in a journal, doodle while daydreaming, or breathe deeply while we listen to the silence around us. In the company of a good friend or treasured relative, we can share a few silly jokes, enjoy a waltz around the room, play a fast-paced hand of cards, or reconnect through lighthearted conversation.

The key is to first identify what makes us dizzyingly happy. If we do only what we believe should bring us contentment, our five minutes will not be particularly satisfying. When we allow ourselves the freedom to do whatever brings us pleasure, five minutes out of 14 wakeful hours can brighten our lives immeasurably.

It is often when we have the least free time or energy to devote to joy that we need to unwind and enjoy ourselves the most. Making happiness a priority will help you find five minutes every day to indulge in the things that inspire elation within you. Eventually, your happiness breaks will become an established part of your routine. If you start by pursuing activities you already enjoy and then gradually think up new and different ways to fill your daily five minutes of happiness, you will never be without something to smile about.

Ask and you shall receive

August 10, 2008

“Ask and you shall receive; seek and you shall find; knock and the door shall be opened to you.”

Matthew 7:7

Praise the Lord

August 3, 2008

“Praise the Lord, O my soul.  O Lord my God, You are very great; You are clothed with splendor and majesty.”

Psalm 104:1

Let us focus on giving praise and thanksgiving to our wonderful Lord and Savior.  Just think of all the things we have to praise God for!  Here are just a few…

  • Praise God for who He is
  • Praise God for sending His Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for us
  • Thank you Jesus for giving your life for us
  • Thank you God for forgiving our sins in Jesus
  • Praise God for making such a beautiful world
  • Thank you God for our loved ones and family
  • Praise God for life and health and breath
  • Thank you Jesus for your love
  • Praise God for providing financially for us

There are so many things to praise God for!  The Bible says “Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise.”  “Give thanks to the Lord, bless His name

How To Let Go Of Guilt And Learn To Forgive

July 27, 2008

We have all done things that we are not proud of. Perhaps we were not there for a friend when they needed us, or we may have been responsible for unhappiness in our family. These sorts of past actions can leave us feeling ashamed and guilty, and we can end up carrying our guilt for years.

Guilt is probably one of the most debilitating and negative emotions there is — one that can, and often does, destroy a person’s life. But if we want to live happy lives, we need to deal with the consequences of our past actions and not allow our lives to be wracked with guilt.

Feeling guilty should not be confused with taking responsibility for our past. Taking responsibility means that we actively address the consequences of our actions in whatever way we can, in particular changing our behavior patterns. Taking responsibility also includes moving on by making peace with the past.

All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me

July 19, 2008

“…All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.  And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Matthew 28:18 - 20

The last recorded words Jesus spoke to His disciples were “…You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

We are to be Christ’s witnesses — to tell others about Jesus.  This is a wonderful privilege — to share the life changing message of Jesus Christ with the world!

How do we do this?  Dr. Bill Bright, in Transferable Concept #5, shares these key points: We are to Prepare by 1) Be sure you are a Christian; 2) Be sure there is no unconfessed sin in your life; 3) Be filled with the Holy Spirit; 4) Be prepared to communicate your faith in Christ.

Then, we are to Go by 1) Praying; 2) Going to others; 3) Talking about the Lord Jesus; and 4) Expecting God to use you.

Be filled with the Spirit

July 17, 2008

Be filled with the Spirit.”

Ephesians 5:17

You can be filled with God’s Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit is God — here on earth, but invisible — who came to live in the lives of those who have accepted Christ as Savior.

You do not have to try to live the Christian life on your own power without help.  The Holy Spirit can give you God’s power in your life to overcome sin.  The fruit of the Holy Spirit in your life will be love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and self-control.  God can help you live the Christian life by His power — His Holy Spirit — in your life!

What is a Healthy Relationship Anyway?

July 10, 2008

It is not easy to put our friends and lovers in the same comparison because we are in love with our partners, and therefore will be more patient with them than we would with our friends. You can easily blind yourself due to the love you feel for that person and not even realize when he or she is not being a good friend and partner to you. How can you tell? A true friendship is basically the same as the true qualities that define real love. The difference is, we are in love and have a deep desire for our mates, with commitment and a goal of building a future, and perhaps even getting married and making a family together. The list below will help you see if your lover is a friend to you as well.

• You can talk to and confide in each other about anything.

• Your partner is there for you when you need to talk to someone.

• Being able to always rely on each other when one is counted on.

• Having a permanent shoulder to cry on when we need it.

• Having many things in common.

• Accepting one another for who we are.

• Listening to us and considering our opinions important.

Do not feel guilty for having higher expectations from your lover either. People often feel like they should be more lenient and understanding when it comes to their lovers. Even though it is important to keep an understanding attitude (to avoid misunderstandings and arguments), you should never let things always slide or make up excuses for your partner’s wrong doings. You should expect better and not except such behavior. You deserve better. After all, you invest most of your emotions and time into your partner, so always remember that you are entitled to receive the same.

As important as having that great friendship is, it is also good to remember not to let the friendship get out hand. Is it possible to let a friendship get carried away? Yes, in a relationship it is. It is wonderful when you can be best friends with your partner, but sometimes the friendship is doing so well that it receives all the focus, while in the meantime the romance (being in love) has been neglected. If you are not careful, in time, you will start looking at each other as close buddies and no longer be that passionate couple you started as. There are points that can guide you into detecting when your romance and desire is entering the danger zone before it is too late and would be suggestible to seek professional advice on how to get things back on track.

Remembering not to forget our desires for our partner will keep the romance in the picture. If the relationship still fails to rekindle those feelings and you or your partner cannot leave that buddy mode, looking around with curiosity for others, then your relationship will need some extra help (you can get advice on how to save your relationship). What if it is difficult to have a friendship? This can be another issue, but there are ways to help you find solutions. Some couples may share the most wonderful romance and sex ever, but not really have an actual friendship. In most cases, it would not be advisable to stay in such a relationship, but there are ways you can try and still have some hope.

We Love Him

July 7, 2008

“We love Him because He first loved us.”

1 John 4:19

There are certain key things that every new believer in Christ should know.  The first is that you are God’s child — God loves you!  You can be sure that God loves you forever.

You can also know that God loves you so much that He came searching for you, even when you are lost.  The parable in the Bible of the woman with the lost coin tells us this.  “Suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one.  Does she not light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it?  And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.’  In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

In the same way, God gave His only Son Jesus Christ so that we might come to have eternal life.  Let us pray that: you and I will have God’s heart of love for those who do not know Christ.

God’s love for us is wonderful!  Let us share His love for the world with those who do not know Him.

The Wooden Bowl

July 5, 2008

I guarantee you will remember the tale of the  Wooden Bowl tomorrow, a
week from now,a month from now, a year from now.

A frail old man went to live with his son, daughter-in-law, and
four-year old grandson. The old man’s hands trembled, his eyesight was blurred,
and his step faltered. The family ate together at the table.

But the elderly grandfather’s shaky hands and failing sight made eating
difficult. Peas rolled off his spoon onto the floor. When he grasped the
glass, milk spilled on the tablecloth.

The son and daughter-in-law became irritated with the mess. “We must do
something about father,” said the son. “I’ve had enough of his spilled
milk, noisy eating, and food on the floor.”

So the husband and wife set a small table in the corner.
There,Grandfather ate alone while the rest of the family enjoyed dinner. Since
Grandfather had broken a dish or two, his food was served in a wooden bowl!

When the family glanced in Grandfather’s direction, sometime he had a
tear in his eye as he sat alone. Still, the only words the couple had for him
were sharp admonitions when he dropped a fork or spilled food.

The four-year-old watched it all in silence.
One evening before supper, the father noticed his son playing with wood
scraps on the floor. He asked the child sweetly, “What are you making?”
Just as sweetly, the boy responded, “Oh, I am making a little bowl for
you and Mama to eat your food in when I grow up.” The four-year-old smiled
and went back to work.

The words so struck the parents so that they were speechless. Then
tears started to stream down their cheeks. Though no word was spoken, both
knew what must be done.

That evening the husband took Grandfather’s hand and gently led him
back to the family table. For the remainder of his days he ate every meal with
the family. And for some reason, neither husband nor wife seemed to care any
longer when a fork was dropped, milk spilled, or the tablecloth soiled.

Blessing To You

July 2, 2008

If you woke up this morning with more health than illness, you are more blessed than the million who won’t survive the week.

If you have never experienced
the danger of battle,
the loneliness of imprisonment,
the agony of torture or
the pangs of starvation,
you are ahead of 20 million people
around the world.

If you attend a church meeting
without fear of harassment,
arrest, torture, or death,
you are more blessed than almost
three billion people in the world.

If you have food in your refrigerator,
clothes on your back, a roof over
your head and a place to sleep,
you are richer than 75% of this world.

If you have money in the bank,
in your wallet, and spare change
in a dish someplace, you are among
the top 8% of the world’s wealthy.

If your parents are still married and alive,
you are very rare,

If you hold up your head with a smile
on your face and are truly thankful,
you are blessed because the majority can,
but most do not.

If you can hold someone’s hand, hug them
or even touch them on the shoulder, you are blessed because you can offer God’s healing touch.

If you can read this message,
you are more blessed than over
two billion people in the world
that cannot read anything at all.

You are so blessed in ways
you may never even know.

Liberate Me Now

June 30, 2008

There are many times I find myself looking back at the person I was just a few short years ago and marveling at all of the world’s lies that I allowed myself to believe. I deluded myself into thinking I needed to be “liberated” in order to fulfill my full “potential.” At the time I could not see what was really going on, but I can see it clearly now- rather than become free, I became a slave. A slave to my desires, to material goods, to food, to reckless fun, and a slave to my selfish, sinful nature. Not only was I a slave, but I was also a shirker. Responsibilities were placed on the backburner, unless they could help me achieve what I wanted, of course! As I rode around and around on this crazy non-stop ride, I honestly thought I was free.

Dealing With Fear

June 26, 2008

Not only is anxiety an uncomfortable feeling, it also leads to negative consequences. Reasoning becomes cloudy when overwhelmed with worry. So an anxious person will have trouble making wise decisions. Fear of failure may also lead to procrastination or a lack of productivity. Apprehensions can devastate personal and spiritual growth, relationships, and work. So conquering fear is important. Four steps can help.

First, you need to identify the fear. Ask yourself about the circumstances surrounding your feelings and what triggered them. What message are you telling yourself? Then turn to the Lord. Remember, God loves you and desires an intimate relationship with you. He’s in sovereign control of your situation, so bring your fear to Him.

You should rebuke the fear before God. You have the authority and power in Jesus’ name to reject what isn’t from Him. Meditate on passages such as Matthew 10:31 and Proverbs 1:33. Let God’s truth replace any wrong thinking.

Finally, cling to your heavenly Father. Take your focus off your circumstances, and look to the One who promises His help. Scripture from Isaiah 41:10 gives this assurance: “Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you. Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”

Circumstances are external and often beyond your control. But your response originates within. It’s amazing how fears diminish in the Father’s presence.

Sins are forgiven

June 25, 2008

(Jesus speaking) “Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven.”

Matthew 9:2

You can be forgiven!  This is the wonderful message of Jesus Christ.  “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Jesus Christ came to earth to die on the cross for our sins.  He was perfect and sinless; we deserve the penalty for our sins.  He took that penalty Himself when He died in such pain and agony.

Now when we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior He sets us free from the law of sin and death.  Even as Christians, we may sin.  But God promises us that if we ask Him He will forgive us our sins.

That is the great news; and we want to share it with the whole world.

Shout for joy to the Lord

June 24, 2008

“Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.  Worship the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs.”

Psalm 100:1, 2

Rejoice in the Lord always.”  What does it mean to “rejoice in the Lord?”  Does it mean just that we thank God for the good things in our lives?

While that is important, rejoicing in the Lord is much more than this.  It means praising Him for Who He is as well as for what He does.

It means recognizing that we will spend eternity in heaven with God since we have accepted Jesus as our Savior.

God is loving and kind and we can tell Him we love Him.

Even in tough circumstances, God is good all the time.

He is our heavenly Father and He loves us.

What Money Can’t Buy

April 13, 2008

Money is a necessary part of living.  Without it, we couldn’t secure the necessities or luxuries of life.  But there are things money can’t buy.  W.A Criswell said, "Money will but luxuries, but it will not buy spiritual power.  Money will but advancement and preferment, but it will not buy the recognition of God.  Money will buy … favor and accolades, but it will not buy sould respect."

The greates good - so great that it is in a category all by itself cannot be bought.  If the entire human race were to bankrupt its resources in an effort to buy forgiveness of sin and eternal life with Jesus, it would be infinitely insufficient.  All the wealth of the whole world cannot purchase the supreme blessing of forgiveness and heaven.

We’ll never accumulate enough riches to purcase a place in the paradise of God.  But there’s good news! Salvation can be ours "without money and without price".

Have you trusted Jesus as your Savior? Youneed only to stretch out your empty hands in childlike faith to the Lord .  Cry out to Him and confess your sin.  He will abudantly pardon.
