No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thornbushes, or grapes from briers. The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks.
We officially made it through our first year! Here's a picture of our wedding cake after we each had a bite. Surprisingly, it didn't taste that bad!
I love the little things in life that you look forward to, such as days off!! I have had an extremely busy week. I have also been working all week and have to work all day tomorrow, but will have 96 glorious hours off after that!!! I have learned to be thankful for and cherish those much-needed times of rest.
My husband and I are planning a "breakfast date" on Saturday morning, so I'm looking forward to that, too!
As for tonight, I plan to make some yummy peanut butter-chocolate brownie bars.
Have you ever noticed how turning a new place into home is almost as if one is perfecting a piece of art? Much of the items you already own work excellently with their new surroundings, however, there is always a bit of tweaking and pruning to be done. Some old items simply will not work in the new place and must go, while other items are necessary to add. All of these little changes make for a beautiful finished home. Homemaking and decor really is an art that needs fine-tuning!
When I joined the church that I’m now a member of I was asked to give a verse that was important to me, a verse that talked about my understanding of the truths of God’s Word and that testified to my belief in Christ. I chose Acts 4:12:
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
There are two key parts to this verse. The first is that salvation can only be found in Christ. The second is that we must be saved by belief in that name.
Thanks everyone for your input on the various Bible studies I have to choose from. I was over whelmed on Sunday by the sheer number of choices, but God definitely spoke to me about which one to do and He used you all to confirm what I was feeling. The study starts next Wednesday, and I'm really excited about it! It's been quite a while since I've been able to participate in a women's Bible study, and I've missed them!
This is off topic, but I did want to say that I've been busy with some other paintings, but I haven't posted them to John yet. My camera seems to be getting worse and worse. Mae agreed that I need a new one after seeing my last attempts to photograph my work. So, I was able to order an "early Christmas present" that should arrive next week! I can't wait to get it, but until then, I won't have any new paintings posted. It's hard being patient too, because I have a couple of really cute ones to show you all!
Blogging is a fun activity for me. I love being able to share this easily what’s going on in my head, my day, and being able to discuss with you different topics.
However, this community– this friendship– that we have here would not be possible without people linking to stories that are here, commenting here, and stopping by here to read.
I’ve implemented the Count Comments item to draw attention to those who take the time to leave comments, but it occurred to me when I visited a few sites recently that I have not taken the time to properly thank those that chose to send people my way.
Think back to when you first “fell in love” with your husband. You wanted to spend every minute with him. People made fun of you because you were so giddy. You did everything you could to romance him. You dressed your best. You surprised him with little gifts. You wore perfume. You smiled. You laughed. You gave and gave. Nothing could come between the love you had for each other…
Yet, now, you are so busy and tired or maybe you’re just bored with each other. It doesn’t matter how young or old you are, you can still be romantic.
