Coffee Time

April 19, 2011

When I felt tired all the time I barely wanted to get out of bed. I would wake up late for work after pushing the snooze button on my alarm clock multiple times and I really had no motivation to get me through the day. Work turned into a constant game of catchup as every day I would feel like I was dragging and couldn’t do anything to stop it. At that time though I made a decision that I would not let my life get any worse as a result of my tiredness and I began to look for ways to get out of the downward spiral I had got myself in to.

The first place that I started looking was my caffeine intake, I was taking in at the time about 4 - 6 coffees per day. I know it sounds like quite a lot but when you find yourself as tired as I was I felt like I had no choice. What I didn’t realize when I was drinking the coffee though is that it was impacting quite negatively on my day and was a contributor to my feelings of tiredness all the time. Coffee is a substance that dehydrates you once drinking it so you need to take in water while you drink coffee. I didn’t know this and for a number of weeks was probably drinking as much coffee as I did water. Immediately when I made this discovery I began to drink more water and found myself feeling much better after it. I remember the telling sign for me that I was not drinking enough water also was that I felt really quite bloated.
